Bowen is a subtle energy technique named after the Australian who developed it, Tom Bowen (1916-1982). The technique is a gentle form of bodywork that treats the whole person, not just areas where symptoms occur; practioners use visual and energetic assessment of body tension to guide their treatment. It is suitable for children, pregnant women, and the elderly, as well as people in pain or with injuries. Bowen encourages relaxation, improves blood flow and the supply of nutrients to the tissues. Rebalancing muscles which in turn allows realignment of the body. It also helps relieve stress and trauma and generally has a calming effect on the nervous system. Helping to move blocked energy, stimulating the body’s natural healing system.
The technique has been recommended to improve the below symptoms:

Joseph Bestford Stephenson called his natural method of health care, Creative Healing. It was an ancient art practiced by many people over time, but almost lost today.
Mr Stephenson saw his mission as restoring these natural methods to the planet; however he predicted before he died in 1956 that his methods would not be widely accepted for 50 years.
It is appropriate, as we near the target of this 50 year prediction, that all of Mr Stephenson’s treatments, remedies and wisdom about the body and its functioning are now being offered to the world.
Today, doctors search for complementary methods that work, and the medical profession now acknowledges the powerful and subtle influence exerted by the mind over the physical world in creating change, for better or worse. While we envision the mind-body interaction as complex, Mr Stephenson’s methods model is a simple mind-body connection for producing health.
The four basic principles in the Stephenson Method Of Natural Health Care are simple and must be understood before a healer can be really effective. These principles refer to the exact way the hands are used to accomplish the intended results and are applied differently in every treatment.
The Four Principles
If a substance in the body is causing pain it may be because it is out of place. ‘Substance’ is a catch-all –word used by Mr Stephenson and can include anything from a nerve to an organ. Gentle movements of the thumb or the whole hand can relive the pain and/or reposition the substance back into place with ease.
Restore The Body To A Normal Temperature
The palm of the hand detects areas of the body that are above or below normal temperature, indicating inflammation or low blood circulation; oiled hands on the skin withdraw or add heat as needed. Heat can be removed with the palm of the oiled hand with fingers extended and not even touching the body. The technique can remove pain with only a dozen passes in a downward direction over the painful area.
Create A Vacuum
Within the body there is space where blockages can occur. This can happen anywhere in the body and they must be dissolved and/or removed for perfect functioning. A natural law says if you create a vacuum something has to flow through it.
Breaking up Congestion
When there is a visible or palpable lump or bruise, we often touch or rub it without thinking. Any congested area of the body needs to be broken up but in the correct way that will aid the healing power of our bodies.
